eBill is the official Swiss e-invoicing network operated by SIX Group. It lets billers deliver structured invoices directly into the recipient's e-banking portal, where they can be reviewed and approved with a single click — no paper, no PDF attachment, no manual data entry.
From the biller's side, the invoice is submitted through a certified eBill service provider (or directly via the eBill API). From the recipient's side, the invoice appears inside their existing e-banking interface at any of the major Swiss retail banks. The recipient sees the full invoice details, decides to pay, and the payment instruction is created automatically — the IBAN and amount are pre-filled.
eBill is built on the ISO 20022 payment message standard and is tightly integrated with the Swiss QR-bill infrastructure.
How eBill relates to PEPPOL
eBill and PEPPOL serve different audiences. eBill is optimised for B2C and SME billing within Switzerland — think utility bills, insurance premiums, and supplier invoices to Swiss companies with e-banking. PEPPOL is designed for structured B2B and B2G invoicing across borders. For the Swiss federal administration mandate from 2026, both eBill and PEPPOL are accepted formats.
